How to Buy
Goupil & Cie offers several ways to participate in online and offline biddings bringing the amenities of instant and borderless access to exceptional items and the trepidation of traditional salesroom auction events, converging into our global cultural landscape.
Online bidding allows clients from anywhere in the world to participate in exciting bids stemming across all our departments including European, Asian and American and Latin American works of art, jewellery, timepieces, rare wines and spirits, and collectibles. Online bidding requires registration at least 24 hours prior to the sales event.
Saleroom biddings are organized exceptionally on an annual basis in London, Hong Kong or Singapore to offer an in-person auction experience which generally covers a specifically curated collection. Saleroom biddings require either online registration at least 24 hours prior to the sales event or register in person at the event but you must bring the required documents with you. For online registration, please bring your valid government issued ID with you, so that you can obtain your paddle at the event and return it to our representatives when the auction is over.
Absentee bidding gives the possibility for clients who cannot attend saleroom biddings to submit an absentee bid for which Goupil & Cie will process on your behalf during the bidding process. You will be required to set a maximum bid amount that will be only processed at the lowest price possible and never for more than the maximum bid amount you indicate. The auctioneer will automatically place incremental bids on your behalf based on other bids up to you maximum bid. Absentee biddings also require online registration and submission and confirmation of the absentee bidding form at least 24 hours prior to the sales event. Bid amounts do not include buyer’s premium, applicable sales tax and shipping.
Bid amounts announced in the saleroom or online bidding do not include the Buyer’s Premium or the applicable taxes and shipping. The successful bidder must pay the final amount due, including the hammer price and a uniform 18% buyer’s premium of the hammer price.
