HOW TO CONSIGN MY ITEM

Through sale room auctions, online bidding or private sales, your journey with us starts by submitting a “REQUEST AN ESTIMATE” under the “HOW TO GET AN ESTIMATE” section. Please include all relevant information requested about the item that you wish to consign with us.

START THE SELLING PROCESS

A Goupil & Cie specialist will contact you to define the most suitable selling channel for you according to your own preferences as well as the current market needs and auction calendar. Once you have agreed to proceed, you will need to create an account with us. We will then send you a consignment agreement to sign to start the consignment process.

ESTIMATES AND RESERVES

A Goupil & Cie specialist will advise you on the low and high estimates and discuss the reserve price for your item. We will always accommodate your reserve price request and never sell below this price. The reserve price will not be disclosed on the any publication or website.

CONDITIONS OF SALE

The seller commission for Goupil & Cie is a fixed percentage on the hammer price of the item sold during the auction or transactional price for private sales. Taxes and shipping and any agreed-upon requested services are excluded and calculated separately.

CONSIGNMENT AGREEMENT

Before selling your items with Goupil & Cie, we will send you a consignment agreement between you and Goupil & Cie, which sets out the rate for our commission fee, a low and high estimate and reserve price for each item, sale-related expenses, and the terms and conditions according to which the item will be sold. You will then acknowledge the ownership of the item to be sold and that the latter is free and clear of any liens, claims, security interests, options, charges or any other encumbrance.

Please kindly make sure that the registered address on your Goupil & Cie’s personal account and the one provided to prepare the consignment agreement is the same. If any address modification occurs before or after the consignment agreement has been signed, please notify us and provide a proof of your updated address in order to refresh your contact details on your Goupil & Cie’s personal account or revise the consignment agreement for which a new version will need to be signed by both parties.

SHIPPING ARRANGEMENT TO GOUPIL & CIE

If you agree with the provisional estimates, the item intended for auction needs to be shipped to Goupil & Cie for physical examination. Delivery charges including packing, shipping, insurance and, if shipped from abroad, fees at the customs will under the responsibility and borne by the consignor.

Please contact our Client Advisory team prior to shipping so we can assist with the importation procedures through customs and arranging the local logistics if required or if you aim to ship a large number of items, or an item with a non-standard size or shape.

Please note that, if you deliver your properties to us in person with no import records from customs, local sales tax cannot be exempt or refunded, and will consequently be deducted from the payment of your proceeds.

SALE AND PAYMENT

Goupil & Cie will notify the consignor about the status of any lot offered for sale immediately after the auction or the end of the private sales period. A payment statement will be sent to the consignor within two weeks after the sale event, which will detail your sale result and net proceeds based on the hammer price, excluding commission and any agreed-upon expenses.

Once we have received payment from the buyer, we will credit the aforementioned net proceeds to the consignor’s nominated bank account within 35 working days after the sale event.

Please note that, the name of the consignor and the name of the bank account holder is to be the same as stipulated in the consignment agreement.

If the reserve price was not reached or a buyer was not found for your property, Goupil & Cie will contact you to discuss either re-offering your item or returning it to you.
